A little winter warmth

As winter approaches, there are things that I foresee giving you a little warmth during the cold weather.

Military style jackets – Now that Michael Jackson is gone, I see the military style jacket making a big comeback (perhaps in his honor?). Usually these jackets are wool and double-breasted. One of my favorites is the purple Miss Sixty Women's Double-breasted Wool Trench Coat at Overstock.com.

Winter weddings – Want to save cash? I heard that January is the least popular wedding month, so some businesses might be willing to give discounts. Plus, snowflake-themed wedding favors would be super cute! Plus, what warms the heart like love?

The Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series – Want to know if X-Men reading the minds of others is an invasion of privacy? Or who’s “better” for Bella? Maybe you want to know about the possibility of time travel? If so, these books are for you! Feed your mind by the fire with books that relate philosophy to X-Men, Twilight, Heroes, 24, South Park, Family Guy and more!

Ruched off-the-shoulder blouses – Like those at Victoria’s Secret, Dillard’s and JCPenny are going to be cute, comfortable and feminine additions to your winter wardrobe. Dress it up with skirts and pearls, or dress it down on a date with jeans and high heel boots.

Charity cards – These selfless wonders are all the rage right now. Don’t want to give wedding candy as favors or another gift card at Christmas? Donate to a charity in a distant relative’s name and send them a card saying you’ve done so. It’s unique, it’s compassionate, and it’s classy.

Being more positive -- The economy might be horrible. There might be less presents under the tree. But it could be worse, right? Try looking at things from a more positive perspective and let go of some of that stress that's making your heart so cold!
What’s out? Metallic purses, short skirts with hiking boots, wearing a long T-shirt and calling it a dress, and whining. I’d go into that further, but then I’d be violating my own rules. Wouldn’t I?
