Whether you're into the philosophy and the hidden culture messages in all the vampire shows, or you just want to party like a
Party supplies for Halloween parties are 20% off at the HBO store right now, but my coveted True Blood Limited Edition Halloween Set is still around $72 pre-tax.
With my wedding exactly one week before Halloween, I don’t think that will be happening. HBO’s prices for fans of the fang?
Well, to put it bluntly as Sook or Lafayette . . .the prices suck. Like just having HBO as a channel isn’t expensive enough already!
After owning the Blackwell books on X-Men, Twilight and several other shows and movies, I expect the True Blood and Philosophy: We Wanna Think Bad Things with You (The Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series) will be an amazing addition to my coveted Christmas wishlist items.
The searchable part of Amazon shows the Table of Contents as “Merlotte’s Menu” and includes chapters on keeping secrets, God hating fangs, feminism, the social interaction between vamps and humans, the ethics of being a maker, and making the parallels I make to my students in class – the ‘coming out of the coffin’ = ‘coming out of the closet”!
Charlaine Harris dropped the name of the Blackwell book, as well as A Taste of True Blood: The Fangbanger’s Guide on her blog in August. Taste is described on Amazon as:
"Vampire Bill’s season 2 slide from hot to not", "Sookie’s mind-reading talents as a critique of our oversharing Facebook culture", "What a Louisiana setting adds to the traditional vampire myth", "Why the television series had to differ from the books (co-written by the Southern Vampire mysteries’ editor Ginjer Buchanan)", "And much more, from shapeshifters to maenads to Merlotte's".
Sounds pretty good to me! Now, if I could only be sure that TB won't tank in Season Four . . .
