Weddings for True Faeries -- Part 1

While I've seen Twilight-themed weddings & posted a purple wedding theme in honor of the Moyer-Paquin union, I was surprised to see Brides post a Sookie/fae inspired wedding.

I love when rustic styles are used in outdoor weddings, but my favorite part of the post was the Greek-gone-mystical gown as well as the little flower girls wearing wings. (Kids would love that).

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a coincidence or not, but the editor, Amy Elliott, also included Estée Lauder's "Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Surreal Violet".

I also liked the "strapless chiffon dress with rosette sash in Blush" for around $300 at Swoon, but what the mag doesn't tell you, is that the dress is called Sonoma (Style SONO-05-0002) and that the sash is sold separately.

Instead, for faerie themes, try golds, purples, and blushes or the ultra-fab trend I just saw of silvers (not shiny, but deep grays) and these blush/coral colors.

The only other thing I've seen that's as cool are ballerinas in tutus for summer/spring weddings or mash-ups of the two like this one from Wedding Bee:

For you DIY brides, there are tutorials for these on Martha Stewart, but to find it, you may have to search the term "petticoat" versus "tutu".  Start with the flower girl lace petticoat, which is less seasonal and doesn't have the tulle-look.

If you want frills and multi-colored Moulin Rouge-style tutus, look at the DIY called pettiskirts or just buy Halloween petticoats for kids for $6 - $8 anywhere that sells costumes.

Also look for inspiration in articles on the magic of tulle, and ballet-inspired fashion across the board (hairstyles, stationary, bride, etc. that makes me want flower girls).

Just don't put pettiskirts on your bridesmaids. Rather than being cute, they look like trash Playboy bunnies or as if they murdered an ostrich and are wearing it's skin on their butts.

Just look here to see what the gorgeous Pixie Lott was forced to wear at her sister's wedding. Not even fae magic can make that find of fashion ugly go away . . .
