Being Human Ain't So Easy

After seeing a write-up in Entertainment Weekly, I was looking forward to the Americanized/revamped spin on SyFy's version of the British BBC show.

Initially, I was undecided after the first two episodes.

In the show, they've teamed-up a ghost, a vamp and a werewolf that all live together and are trying to maintain a regular, human existence.

According to write-ups I've seen, the vamp, Aidan, was turned in the Civil War; Josh, the werewolf, was turned in a camping trip attack and EW hints that Sally will find out her ghostly existence was no accident. (As of now, she only knows what her roommates convince her fiance to tell them.)

To me, this show is Scrubs meets True Blood meets Buffy. There are some graphic scenes (take the vampire-on-human sex turned murder and wolfy deer hunter scenes in the first episode), but there are some corny/silly/quirky parts, too (which I expected from SyFy).

Example: Sally the ghost asks if the werewolf and the vampire are going to go all "Twilight on each other".

Some things you may not believe or scoff at -- the wolfboy and the undead soldier both work at the hospital? The "widower" of the ghost is their landlord?  Aidan, after being turned in the late 1700s still can't control his bloodlust for women, though he's newly reformed?

I like, however, that Aidan's maker is a cop that can help cover vampires' tracks, that he can go out in the day time, and that they all are trying so hard to be human, though that ain't easy.

It's not as good as True Blood, but it's going to be a Monday night guilty pleasure.
