Warning: Contains Season 3, Episode 8 spoilers
Though TB is up for season four, the fans may leave their favorite vamps out in the sun. Even as a Truebie, I'm not sure what to think about the turn in True Blood, especially after Sunday's episode "Night on the Sun."
When a friend who hadn't seen the episode yet asked if Sookie forgave Bill, my response was, "I'd say so since the episode ended in we almost died/make-up/hate sex”.
While I understand the need to change scenes and plots from books to fit better into movies or TV, I feel some of the changes in TB this season are downright ridiculous.
Example: I can see why the gang rescues Bill in a van (Tara and Alcide were not there in the books, BTW, but Eric was around. And so was the undead Elvis). Shooting a scene in the trunk of a car wouldn’t be feasible. However, in the book, Bill basically rapes Sookie. She didn’t follow that up with a “I love you but I hate you” break-up romp on the carpet with a side of asphyxiation.
My theory? They’re selling out plot because: 1. TV Bill is more likeable than novel Bill. 2. “Sookie and Bill” are real-life lovers and it may be impacting the show.
I hate to say thins because I love TB, but I think the show’s fallen off compared to Season 1 & 2. If this season doesn’t end in a break-up and Sook seeing a naked Eric running down the road, I may have to just keep reading and stop watching.
What do the rest of you Truebies think? Is Team Bill overpowering the plot or are those on Team Eric just upset Sookie hasn't moved on yet?
