Everyone's been through it. You wake up and realize your alarm didn't go off, or you turned it off mid-dream, and now you're late for work. So late, that you have about 15 minutes to get ready before you should be in the car. Here are some quick fixes for those last minute crisis situations (aka "Oh shit moments").
1. You need your caffeine fix, but there's no time to brew coffee or your Red Bull hasn't been chilled. Get the Starbucks VIA™ Ready Brew. Just pay $10 for 12 servings and dump one packet into a cup of hot water. Coffee not your cup of tea? Take this bartender trick to cool your Red Bull super fast. Take a metal cocktail shaker, put a little ice in the bottom, place the Red Bull into the shaker, and then fill in the sides/top of the shaker with more ice (crushed works best). You don't have to shake it! Just let the Red Bull sit 10-15 minutes, even if you stick the shaker in the cup holder of your car. You'll get your fix in no time!
2. You don't have time to shower and your roots are looking greasy. Rub a little baby powder into the roots and blend it in. Then, try an up-do. If you use too much powder, however, you'll look like Rogue from X-Men. Alternatively, try TRESemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo. It's between $4 and $5 at any store you can buy shampoo. I've tried it (since I have really dry hair and sometimes want to clean roots without stripping the oils from the rest of my hair).
3. Your lips are super-chapped. A recent magazine said to use toothbrush bristles. I say, "Ow! And who wants their skin on the brush?" Instead, mix some brown sugar with a little water, rub it on your lips with your finger, and rinse it off. If you're into making it taste better, add some vanilla extract (because why pay $24 for Sara Happ's The Lip Scrub?). If you need skin exfoliate at the last minute, mix brown sugar and olive oil.
4. You have eyebrow issues and no time to tweeze or get it done by a pro. Keep Hair Off Instant Eyebrow Shapers in your make-up bag. These 18-pack of stickers, essentially, are $4 on Amazon, though you can find these or generics at Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Sally's sometimes. It's quick to do, sort of like waxing, and forms perfect brows. Beware if you have sensitive skin. While I love the shape it makes my brows (one strip goes over brows, one under), it can make your skin red for a few minutes.
5. You spaced on today's baby shower, birthday, Administrative Professional's Day (which is today). I keep a gift closet and a card box. I buy gifts on clearance and collect these for various occasions. That way, I spend less on Christmas gifts, but have back-ups just in case. I do the same with greeting cards.

6. Your nails, whether on your fingers or tootsies, are looking shabby. Try the $10 Sally Hansen Quick Care Massaging Cuticle Treatment pen or my favorite nail polish by Rimmel. Rimmel carries some wild color nail polish for $3 to $4 per bottle at Walgreens and Wal-Mart, and it dries in 60 seconds. My favorite shades, though a few are old, are Torrid, Shocker, Stop Traffic and Deliciously Dark.
