The Host Movie

News is that The Host, Stephenie Meyer's "adult" book (after the Twilight Series) is being made into a movie.

And that's about all the news that there is.  This 2008 novel, a  Invasion of the Body Snatchers-ish story, will be adapted into a movie by director Susanna White and screenwriter Andrew Niccol. (I think it could be made PG-13.  It's not that adult).

According to Variety, "Andrew Niccol ("The Truman Show") wrote the sci-fi drama, which concerns a young woman whose body is inhabited by a benevolent alien soul after an invasion of Earth. White made her directorial debut last year with the "Nanny McPhee Returns," which grossed more than $93 million worldwide."

There's no word on the cast yet. (Please feel free to suggest some or makes guesses here on the blog! Maybe a contest will persuade you?)

Meyer's website calls this novel "Science fiction for people who don't like science fiction" and has an 18-page preview/PDF of the $14 novel here.

All I have to say to Meyer is:  Could you write another novel already? Quit punishing your fans because some jerk posted Midnight Sun and got busted. Otherwise, scrap it and start with something new. If you have anything . . .

(Yes, crazy Twi-hards.  That was totally a challenge to her.)
