Mead's Bloodlines Cover Released

I had every intention to write about Being Human, but there was much bigger news released today.

EW Online released the cover of Bloodlines, Richelle Mead's spin-off series that's piggybacking off the conclusion of Vampire Academy. According to EW, Mead is "moving the previously tertiary character Sydney, a human alchemist, from the sidelines to the forefront. It will also be set in a sunny Californian high school instead of that rigid, preppy-bloodsucker academy, which I imagine will be like transferring from the Undead Poets Society to Bayside High."

I have to say, I'm surprised . . . and I was wrong. I was almost certain that the new series would be about Jill (and I was hoping she and Adrian would hook up).

In an EW video interview with Mead, she indicates that the novel will be from Sydney's perspective, but reminds us that this character is the total opposite of our beloved Rose. (Yet I noticed that there are roses around the thorny new title' letters).

Sorry, kiddos, no excerpts yet, but rumor has it that the new series will hit shelves on Aug. 23.  Until then, you can watch the countdown, "stalk" Richelle Mead digitally on Facebook or Twitter, check out her website, or follow her blog "Even Redheads Get the Blues" for updates on the VA movie and graphic novel!
