Twihard Artists

Say what you will about the Twihards, but these folks are inspired and dedicated. What's a Twihard, you ask? My favorite definition comes from the Urban Dictionary, though probably not 100 percent accurate. It states that the term is a "combination of the words 'Twilight' and 'Die-Hard', Twihards (usually young females) are obsessive fans of the "Twilight Saga" series of books by author Stephenie Meyer, and the film adaptations".

Although I never got into the whole Harry Potter phenomenon, I must admit that I did fall prey to Meyer's books, which are contagious as Edward's venom. It has all the components that girls and women who've clung to what some would call naïve, romantic sentiment, long for. It has unyielding passion, forbidden love, suspense, otherworldly influence, and who can resist reading about a situation where two gorgeous and equally “qualified” men vie for a woman’s love?

I've read all the books. I've seen the movies. I’m excited that the timetables for the third and fourth films are moving up. I bring my male friends to the movies, who like them, despite the acts they put on (insert grumbling about being among 193,000 teenage girls here).

What really impresses me, however, is that her books have inspired fans to progress the story, or represent the story, in visual formats of their own. Whether on Fanpop or deviantART, there's is a lot of self-proclaimed fan art out there concerning the Twilight Saga. Here are some of my favorite pieces that people claimed were fan-made. (However, with Internet recycling, who knows where some of these truly came from. I've kept artist names on the work if they were signed.)
