I'm going to commit a Truebie crime and admit something. I wasn't impressed by "Hurts Me Too", the third episode in this season of True Blood . (If you haven't watched Sunday's episode, skip to the third paragraph to miss spoilers). Not only was the episode not as action-packed, but it wasn't at shocking or interesting as usual either.
I truly hoped, when I heard about this never-before-seen-on-TV sex scene that it would be scandalous in a steamy way -- the way that men felt about Wild Things when I was a teenager. I wasn't surprised about the Pam scene. Natasha Alam told Playboy, she’d “opt for the acerbic vampire Pam, played by Kristin Bauer, as a kissing partner because ‘she’s got that kind of witty sexuality and nastiness about her.’ ” She continues on to talk about Bauer being sexy with beautiful lips. I expected Sookie to dream she was with Bill and Eric at the same time or a more blatant sex scene with Pam. Instead, we got a gross Death Becomes Her meets Last House on the Left scene where Bill essentially raped Lorena Exorcist style. Barf. I would have rather seen Mike Spencer molest the tree (he said that's why he went to jail) in season 2.
But maybe I should have expected this, as Stephen Moyer told Playboy in an interview, (yes, the mag if full of True Blood this month) :
"This time last year I was thinking, What the fuck are we going to do next year to top this? Well, I can tell you it’s weird and exciting this year. As I said, the show is more character-centered – and I’m not saying it’s better or worse for it – but there’s certainly just as much, if not more, interesting sex because of it.”
I expect things to really start heating up on the sex and violence front on Sunday, July 11, as the episode is called "Crimes".
Here's the previews:
