Bye Baby Buntin' or Bun in the Oven (Part 2)

If you can't tell, I love wild animal themed baby rooms. I think a lot of people have a misconception about how baby rooms should look. The only problem is if you have duckies or something else that screams "baby" on the walls, you will have to change up the room soon after the baby begins to age.

What I like about some of these rooms is that the design is light, airy and modern. The walls are generally light, solid colors and the accents are easily removed and replaced as the children get older. In fact, some of these rooms would need little change at all before your baby reaches kindergarten.

My favorite idea is using chalkboard paint to paint a mural on a child's walls. Not only is it cool to look at, but parents won't have to worry as much about the writing on the wall. I first saw this idea in Domino Magazine, and fortunately I cut it out and saved it for myself -- especially since the chalkboard paint is green, my favorite color and a neutral enough color for any gender baby. Why not plan now since my husband-to-be and I have a plan as to when we'd like to start having little ones?

DIY/Cheap Tricks for Wall  Decorations

I've seen baby pictures/wall hangings that have everything from butterflies to the alphabet. A lot of the art in these pictures are supercute, but probably costly. I figured framed art such as these examples could easily be made by purchasing shadowboxes and frames and filling them with collages, stickers or cut-outs made from scrapbooking materials (especially when Hobby Lobby has 50% off frames).

Also, check flea markets, consignment stores and Goodwill. I recently found these classic Pooh pictures and this literary/storybook piece at the Madison Goodwill for $3 each. Even though the frames don't match, $3 is worth getting the print. I may not have a baby, but these might be just as cute in my office. I am a writer, after all.
