That Ain't Too Shabby

Something I have grown to love is what’s called shabby chic décor, also known as cottage style. It seems that the staple of this style is clean lines, chandeliers, girly accents, bold prints, floral prints, stark statues and white furniture.

When it comes to the white furniture, I got a tip from mom. You can paint any piece white, but if you take a sponge and slightly wash some of the paint off before it dries, you can get the aged look. I also think blue accents can really make a shabby chic room pop.

The rooms that seem to be easiest to transform into this style are living rooms and bathrooms, though I think fashonistas could dare to transform their guest bedrooms and porches as well.
If you’re looking for curtains or bedding, try Target, which now carries a line called Simply Shabby Chic.

Hit up flea markets, yard sales, antique stores and Goodwill for pieces you can paint or update as well. Happy hunting!
