I think pom-poms can really dress up a party in a classy way, but I've been debating on whether to make some for the wedding.
Our reception is going to be in an outdoor pavilion. Even if I decide to forgo the wedding idea, there are a lot of different types of poms and uses for the fluffy decorations.
For some great guides you can look up Martha Stewart Weddings how-to guide for Pom-Poms and Luminarias or see her ideas for poms made out of Tulle or Net. I think the ones out of tulle or net might be better served as hair accessories or ways to dress us dresses, shoes and purses.
If you don't want poms at your parties or weddings, you can hang them over cribs as mobiles, make poms to put into a vase (like flowers), decorate gifts (versus bows), dress up place settings (Martha suggests using them as napkin holders if tied to ribbon or wire) and to spice up invitations (like the free pom printables at Domestic Fluff listed below).
You can also make poms out of yarn, magazines, grocery bags and coffee filters!
