Owl Be Missing You (for KK)

My friend and bridesmaid-to-be, KK, is in basic training. In college, she was a Chi Omega, which has an owl as a mascot. When I saw this Martha Stewart template, I decided to modify it because she can only get mail and pics. (The owl template was free and was meant to be used as a collage. There's also an elephant pattern that might make great baby cards or decorations for a politically-themed event).

I scaled the owl down and used scrapbook paper for the owl's body and the background. I used a other piece of scrapbook paper for the sliding tab and just stamped it with Distressed Ink and stamps I got at Michael's. To get the slider motion/make a paper pocket, just take two pieces of paper and double-sided tape and tape them back to back along the border, except the side you want to place your sliding note. (i.e. where green circles are).

I also used a leaf punch to place a hole in the top of the card for the ribbon, both for decor and to help keep the card together. I had a bunch of left-over leaf punches stored in the hole-punch catcher, so I filled the card with the colored leaf confetti. She'll be totally surprised about that!

Final product?
